Draw Anime Characters
Your First Anime Face
Practice drawing a front facing original anime character with a side swept bob hair style. Practice placing the head, both eyes and smaller features to the face before moving on to the hair.
Two Expressions, One Character
Draw two versions of the same character: happy on the left and surprised on the right. Learn how eyes, brows and mouth work together to change an expression.
Hair with Shape and Volume
Build a short swept hairstyle around a simple head. Use the skull, an outer envelope and a few broad locks to give hair shape and volume.
Turn the Head: Three-Quarter View
Turn a familiar anime head gently to the right. Keep the jaw, eye pair, nose, mouth and bob consistent with the same shallow view.
Build the Upper Body
Give your anime character a body to go with the face. Start with the chest, shoulders and arms, then draw a simple shirt around them. You’ll add the face and hair once the body is in place.
Your Complete Anime Character
Draw an adult anime character with the head tilted to one side. The character should have two hands visible and be dressed in a blouse, a skirt and boots. Focus on getting the relaxed stance of the character before adding clothes.

Draw Beautiful Flowers
Draw a Tulip with Curving Leaves
Draw a tulip made up of one broad front petal, two wrapping side petals and a longer rear petal. Include the stem of the tulip, two long leaves and add a few lightly sketched lines to show the curved surfaces of the flower.
Draw a Daisy Turned to One Side
Draw a daisy that has turned away from you. It has thirteen broad, roundish petals and a small domed center. The rear petals have shorter visible reaches, with fuller petals at the front. Add soft shading at selected bases and overlaps to give it depth. Attach two simple leaves at different heights along the curved stem.
Draw a Cherry-Blossom Branch
Two pale open blossoms and a closed bud can be drawn on a short diagonal branch, with the bud near its tip. This simple drawing looks very sweet like a greeting card.
Draw a Calla Lily
Draw one open rounded calla lily. It should have an inward roll and a throat which is slightly darker than the exposed outer surface of the flower. Also draw stem and one leaf.
Draw a Partly Open Rose
Draw a half-opened rose with small center folds, wrapped in a middle group of petals, broad outer petals. Draw short stem, two leaves and some shadows.
Draw a Small Flower Bouquet
Draw a rose, a tulip and a tilted daisy in three different heights on your page. Join their stems with a small band and add two leaves to the stems. Use one light treatment to complete the familiar flowers.

Draw Cute Animals
Draw a Cute Sleeping Cat
Practice: Draw a curled up sleeping cat made of a broad body and a small head. Work out which features sit in front of the others and where their lines should stop. Draw a small face, one paw and a curl of tail.
Draw a Cute Bunny with One Folded Ear
A simple seated bunny, a large head on a small body with one folded ear. Proportion and intention to create an unusual personality within simple form.
Draw a Curious Puppy
Draw a seated puppy with floppy ears. Draw him with a gently tilted head and ensure that the eyes, nose and mouth are all aligned to give him a very curious expression.
Draw a Frog on a Lily Pad
Draw a cheerfull low sitting frog with folded back legs and small splayed feet. He sits on a notched lily pad beneath him, with its edge behind his feet. Try to explain the fold of each back leg by using simple contours. The background lines should be hidden under the animal.
Draw a Cute Axolotl in Motion
Draw a swimming axolotl with a broad smiling head, six softly frilled gill shapes, four small limbs, and a curved tail fin. Make a connected pose and use the same shapes again and again but with slight variations.
Draw a Cute Fox with a Sweeping Tail
Draw a fox seated on the ground and look at it from the front. Its pointed ears will be soft and rounded. Its broad cheeks will be very wide. A big, bushy tail will sweep from its rear side into the lower foreground. Draw the fox using clear overlaps, contrasting shapes and limited use of light and dark pencil tones.
